3D MODELS

ASSISTING THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT WITH 3D MODELS

Typically, our 3D models are produced after we have undertaken a measured survey of the building or structure, usually using 3D laser scanners alongside our 360° panoramic imaging service.

Spatial Dimensions are at the forefront of the Building Information Modelling process within the built environment. We have many years of 3D laser scanning experience, which has helped us develop a scan-to-BIM process which delivers fast and highly accurate as-built survey information into a BIM-ready model, with industry-standard deliverables such as Revit®.

Our rapidly growing team can also produce architectural, structural or MEP models from point clouds or other survey data provided by third parties.

HOW CAN 3D MODELS HELP OUR CLIENTS?

By creating digital representations of physical spaces, we can help clients visualise their projects and make better-informed decisions.

This allows clients to make changes and modifications before construction, and can ultimately save time and money. 3D models allow our clients to identify potential problems or challenges, and address them before they become costly errors.

THE BENEFITS OF 3D MODELS

  • Highly accurate models of buildings and land
  • Tailored range of level of detail options to suit project requirements
  • High quality modelling from our UK-based team
  • Delivered in all Revit versions
  • Fast turnaround
  • Unbeatable value.

WHAT ARE BIM MODELS?

BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING.

“BIM describes the means by which everyone can understand a building through the use of a digital model which draws on a range of data assembled collaboratively. Modelling an asset in digital form, enables those who interact with the building to optimise their actions, resulting in a greater whole life value for the asset. National Building Standards (www.thenbs.com)

BIM is a process or way of working, not an entity. Our friends over at The B1M Channel, have produced this short video explaining it in simple terms.

They also have a superb amount of regularly updated BIM related content on their channel!

For us, it’s all about providing the deliverables that are the best fit for your needs! We rapidly deliver complete and accurate drawings, so you can create amazing spaces everybody will love! Get in touch with Spatial Dimensions so you can feel confident your project will be a success.

WHAT ARE RIGHTS OF LIGHT (ROL) MODELS?

Rights of light models are used in surveying to determine the impact of a proposed development on the natural light received by neighbouring properties.

These models typically involve the creation of a three-dimensional representation of the existing buildings and surrounding environment, which is then used to calculate the amount of light that each property receives. The results of the model can be used to determine whether a proposed development would result in a loss of natural light to neighbouring properties and whether any compensation may be required as a result.

We have a proven track record of producing accurate, reliable rights of light (ROL) models.

Our experience and understanding of the rights of light analysis process means we are able to produce 3D models to precisely the correct level of detail required and correctly formatted to suit any rights of light analysis software.

Our ROL models can be turned around quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively.

DEFINING LEVEL OF DETAIL

Level of detail (LOD)  describes the depth and detail of information included within survey data. Survey data will be either 2D or 3D information, such as 2D CAD drawings and elevations or 3D models.

You can read about level of detail in 3D models, download guides and see LOD projects here.
