MILTON KEYNES RETROFIT PROJECT

THE BRIEF

The Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) wave 2.1 was a government funding scheme offering up to £800 million across the country.

The fund aimed to:

  • Deliver warm, energy-efficient housing
  • Reduce carbon emissions
  • Tackle fuel poverty
  • Support green jobs
  • Develop the retrofit sector
  • Improve the comfort, health and well-being of social housing tenants

Ultimately, the key result was to support the installation of energy performance measures in social housing in England.

ECD Architects were hired to lead the architectural planning. We were excited to continue our great relationship with ECD on this project, by obtaining key data that would be essential in the architectural process.

We utilised multiple teams across many sites in Milton Keynes. These included Fullers Slade, Stacey Bushes, Bradville, Tinkers Bridge and more. Due to the number of sites, we had to work effectively and efficiently to time frames to ensure the data was delivered to our client’s satisfaction.

Over the full course of SHDF wave 2.1, just 107 projects nationwide were given funding. We therefore knew the importance of quick survey data to get this particular project off to a flying start!

OUR WORK

Spatial Dimensions completed site surveys, 3D models (scan to bim) and 2D CAD drawings. Each service was presented in LOD 3, giving accurate data to allow planning and visualising the corresponding retrofit work.

The scope of this project included the full surveys of 17 archetype properties. The external facades and roofs were modelled for each ‘in scope’ property along with the immediate neighbouring properties.

All surveys carried out aligned with PAS 2035 accreditation. Not only is PAS 2035 required on all SHDF retrofit projects, but it also helps to increase the quality of work.

THE OUTCOME

Our team successfully delivered all work in alignment with SHDF Wave 2.1’s timeframe.

Our skilled professionals worked tirelessly to ensure each aspect of the project was on track and went beyond the necessary standards.

We’re thrilled to report that all relevant work was completed to our client’s utmost satisfaction.

As of now, all work is on schedule.
